One Love HIV/AIDS Awareness Theater (One Love), a program of Action for Youth and Community Change (AYCC), blends dance, theater, music and gymnastics to disseminate HIV/AIDS awareness messages, promote gender equality and call for an end to female circumcision and abduction. Free for audiences in market-places and schools throughout Ethiopia, One Love performances serve as a dynamic vehicle to educate Ethiopians of all ages and walks of life about the threat of HIV and harmful traditional practices. One Love workshops educate Ethiopian youth and empower them to find their own voice through making art. Over the last eight years One Love has performed for hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians - from the refugee camps of Assosa to the Ethiopian National Theater.
One Love toured in 2012 to 16 rural towns in Ethiopia's Southern Regions delivering messages about HIV/AIDS and gender equality and promoting the services of local health agencies to over 20,000 people. OLT also provides gymnastics, writing, visual arts, sports and homework-help programs free of charge to children in Hwassa. Its Long Live the Girls Manifesto workshops engages Ethiopia's new progressive gender policies through interactive imaginative writing workshops.
